Fatima Al-Manaei... A Voice That is Seen and Makes a Difference.

In the heart of efforts aimed at building more inclusive and equitable societies, human models emerge who are capable of making a real difference that transcends professional boundaries to the depths of societal impact. Among these models, Fatima Khalifa Al-Manaei stands out as an individual who did not settle for merely mastering sign language, but rather turned it into a life mission and a tool for empowering thousands of people, opening new horizons for the deaf community.

From her early beginnings, Fatima did not view sign language as just a technical skill; she treated it as a human bridge that reshapes the relationship between individuals and society. This early realization of the value of communication led her to take a different path, based on genuine—not formal—inclusion, giving a voice to the unheard and providing space for those who were never given the opportunity before.

With experience spanning over twenty years, Fatima has successfully transformed from a sign language specialist into a true symbol of support and human influence. She does not only perform the role of an interpreter; she operates across multiple spheres combining training, awareness, institutional work, and media to create an integrated model in the service of people of determination.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Media (Public Relations), which clearly reflected her ability to influence and communicate with various groups. She further supported this path with a professional doctorate in sign language, bridging science and experience, and theory and practice. Her presence has not been limited to the local level but has extended to the international stage through her membership in the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) and the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI), allowing her to participate in global efforts supporting the rights of the deaf and promoting their inclusion.

On the achievement front, the numbers reflect the scale of the impact Fatima has made; she has trained more than 15,000 people in sign language—a figure that reflects not just reach, but a real shift in societal awareness. She has also delivered more than 100 diverse training programs and participated in over 500 initiatives aimed at supporting inclusion and accessibility, providing clear evidence of her continuous commitment to her cause.

In the media field, she has had a prominent presence through the interpretation of more than 70 television and radio programs, contributing to the transfer of media content to a group that has long suffered from marginalization. She has also participated in providing interpretation services at official events and government sectors, becoming part of a system that seeks to achieve justice in access to information and services.

Today, Fatima continues her influential role through her work at Dubai Municipality, following a rich professional career that included working with Dubai Courts and the Dubai Club for People of Determination.

This has provided her with diverse practical experience, making her more capable of understanding community needs and dealing with them with flexibility and professionalism.

Her influence did not stop at the boundaries of field work; it extended to the digital space, where she became one of the first Emirati content creators to adopt the presentation of educational content in sign language, alongside providing live coverage of events to serve the deaf community. This digital presence was not merely a presence, but an extension of her mission and a tool to reach a wider segment of the audience.

This prolific journey has been crowned with numerous awards and honors reflecting the scale of her impact, including being listed among the Top 50 Emirati Personalities, along with several honorary titles at the national level in recognition of her humanitarian efforts and her role in supporting the causes of people of determination.

Despite all these achievements, the true value of what Fatima provides remains in the impact she leaves on the lives of others; in a person who learned a new language that opened a door to employment, in a family that was able to communicate with one of its members after years of silence, or in a society that has begun to realize that difference is not an obstacle, but an opportunity for understanding and integration.

Not all languages are heard; some are seen and felt. Among these languages, Fatima Al-Manaei chose to create her message—a long human journey she dedicated to being a voice for the unheard, and a bridge linking isolation and communication, and challenges and opportunities.
