This passionate academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Political Economy from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University. Education was not just a job for him; it was a passion that drove him to be an Economics instructor at Suez Canal University. Dr. Ibrahim's educational horizons expanded to include higher levels and wider impact, as he worked as an Economics lecturer for MBA students at the Canadian University in Cairo and a professor of International Political Economy at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University for master's students.
After that, Dr. Ibrahim became a visiting lecturer and trainer at many universities. He presented his profound insights at the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science at Alexandria University. He also shared his expertise at the Faculties of Administration, Political Science, and Economics at Nahda University and Beni Suef University.
His impact was not limited to academia but extended to community service through a series of "Economics for Life" lectures he delivered to managers in local governorates at the Ministry of Local Development.
His visions and ideas were embodied in valuable publications that enriched the economic library. He enriched public discourse with his book "This is How Political Economy Speaks," followed by "Economic Corruption." In parallel with his academic career, Dr. Ibrahim's success story is evident in his professional journey spanning over 20 years, during which he visited more than 40 countries worldwide, skillfully navigating influential roles in both the public and private sectors, leaving clear imprints in the field of management, consultancy, and business development.
His professional journey began at the Ministry of Investment and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, where he spent eight years honing his skills as an economist and investment policy analyst. During this period, Dr. Ibrahim was not just an employee but a key member of the technical team that assisted the Prime Minister in designing and formulating Egypt's investment map, actively contributing to identifying real investment opportunities and guiding investors. As an associate director of the technical unit and assistant to the Vice President of the Authority, he played a pivotal role in strategic planning, decision support, and coordination among different sectors.
His abilities particularly shone as a key member of the "Doing Business" team, which worked to improve Egypt's ranking in the World Bank report, and he received appreciation for his valuable contributions in this regard.
He also took responsibility for important international files such as the Brazil file and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and oversaw the National Regulatory Reform Initiative "The Regulatory Guillotine," demonstrating his deep understanding of economic and regulatory policies.
After a prolific career in the government sector, Dr. Ibrahim moved towards the private sector, working as a Public Policy Consultant and Project Manager at Abdulaziz Al-Gasem Law Firm and Consultations in Riyadh. He led a consulting team and successfully completed two final projects to improve the business environment in Saudi Arabia, related to rental housing and improving the commercial mortgage framework, reflecting his ability to lead teams and achieve tangible results in different environments.
He then returned to Egypt to assume a vital position as Senior Advisor and Director of Government Relations and Economic Affairs at PricewaterhouseCoopers. In this role, he was responsible for building a strong network of relationships with more than 30 governmental and semi-governmental entities and succeeded in bringing massive consulting project opportunities to the company, in addition to contributing to lobbying for important economic issues.
From 2017 to the present, Dr. Ibrahim serves as a Senior Advisor at MTC Economic Partnerships Councils, a WISE MTC project funded by USAID. Here, he plays a vital role in helping the Egyptian government promote economic growth, increase investment, and create job opportunities by encouraging public-private partnerships through the establishment of economic partnership councils. He secured a significant partnership with the Ministry of Local Development and resolved obstacles, leveraging his experience in speaking the language of both the government and private sectors. His work has also included benefiting from North Carolina's experience in effective local economic development.
Dr. Ibrahim has shown his passion for entrepreneurship and investment. Since 2021, he has held the position of CEO of Tareeq Investment, Trade, and Government Relations Consulting Company, and serves as a board member of both Our Financial Consulting and Collins Insurance and Reinsurance. These positions reflect his ability to think strategically and lead in a changing business environment.
Dr. Ibrahim's professional journey was not limited to leadership positions and decision-making; it also extended to a deep passion for honing skills and gaining expertise through active participation in conferences and his constant eagerness for continuous learning through diverse training courses.
Dr. Ibrahim held the position of Vice Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone for Investment and Promotion Affairs by presidential decree. This position represents a vital leadership role in driving Egypt's economic growth and attracting investments. He is a key economic driver: he achieved economic development in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and contracts worth US$6 billion were signed, confirming his ability to achieve huge and direct financial accomplishments.
His oversight of vital departments such as Investment, Promotion, Taxes, Customs, and Environmental Sustainability demonstrates a deep understanding of the business environment and the ability for effective management. Representing the Authority in international forums and signing Memoranda of Understanding highlights strong skills in economic diplomacy, essential for attracting global investments and enhancing Egypt's position. Supervising the development of industrial zone infrastructure and ports supports the creation of an attractive environment for industries and logistics services, contributing to economic expansion.
He also held board memberships in the Main Development Company for the development of industrial zones within the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Canal Electricity Distribution Company responsible for 7 major governorates and 4 new cities. He also holds the position of Chairman of the Investment Committee in the Arab Digital Economy Union affiliated with the League of Arab States.
He served as a Senior Expert and Consultant at Boston Consulting Group and provided vital consultations for huge investment projects such as Ras El Hekma and the development of industrial zones in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, contributing to the formulation of industrial and economic development strategies.
Dr. Ibrahim has been an influential voice at many major events. At the Biznex conference, he not only spoke about financial inclusion and electronic payment but also judged promising entrepreneurial projects, reflecting his deep understanding of market dynamics and innovation.
He also participated as a representative of the business community in the "Egypt Can Invest and Develop" conference, and in the African Business and Investment Summit, underscoring his strong presence in the regional and international economic scene.
His belief in the importance of cooperation and integration was evident through his membership in the board of directors of the Arab Digital Economy Union, affiliated with the League of Arab States, where he contributes to driving digital transformation at the regional level. He also played a prominent role in research and academic committees, such as his participation as a speaker and research referee in a paper funded by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in cooperation with Cairo University.
Internationally, his participations were crucial. In Washington, he represented PricewaterhouseCoopers in important meetings with the World Bank on Doing Business indicators. In London, he was a key speaker at the "Investment Conference: A Master Plan for Egypt" workshop, and at a roundtable on infrastructure and development in Egypt, underscoring his effective role in promoting the Egyptian economy on the global stage.
His most prominent achievement in this regard was his role as the General Coordinator for the projects of the Egyptian Economic Development Conference "Egypt The Future," where he was one of the main organizers of this massive economic event that witnessed wide international participation. Before that, he headed the mission of the International Finance Corporation - World Bank team for the Subnational Doing Business report on Egypt, demonstrating his ability to lead and coordinate at the level of major projects.
Dr. Ibrahim's journey was not limited to major platforms but extended to include his deep commitment to personal and professional development. He was keen to attend specialized training courses in vital areas such as long-term finance, investor services and aftercare, investment promotion tools and techniques, and entrepreneurship and business innovation. These courses provided him with advanced tools and knowledge that reflected in his outstanding performance.
He also participated in workshops and courses on regulatory impact assessment, and monitoring and performance evaluation. He was passionate about strategic and political studies, having participated in training courses on climate change and environmental impact assessment at Al-Ahram Center, which confirms his holistic thinking and interest in sustainable development issues.
